Taken from...everyone?!

Entertainment Weekly’s list of the top movies of the last 25 years.
Go through their list and color blue) the ones you have seen and color red the ones you own on video or DVD. Bold anything you've seen in the theatre (as opposed to on tv or rented).

1. Pulp Fiction (1994) I've actually seen quite a bit of this movie, just not from start to finish. But I do own it. I love Quintin Tarantino.
2. The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-03) Opening Day. All three. I'm that hardcore.
3. Titanic (1997) This movie would have been better if Kate Winslet would move her FAT ASS so Leo DiCaprio could have gotten on that damn piece of wood with her.
4. Blue Velvet (1986)
5. Toy Story (1995) Total love.
6. Saving Private Ryan (1998)
7. Hannah and Her Sisters (1986)
8. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
9. Die Hard (1988) I haven't seen this, but my brother watches it every Christmas Eve. After all, it is a Christmas movie...
10. Moulin Rouge (2001) At one point, I did own this movie. But I lost it :(
11. This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
12. The Matrix (1999)
13. GoodFellas (1990)
14. Crumb (1995)
15. Edward Scissorhands (1990)

40. Speed (1994)

43. Gladiator (2000)
44. The Player (1992)
45. Rain Man (1988) I cannot watch this movie. I burst into tears every time I see the "Hot water burn baby!!" scene (you know, where Tom Cruise finds out that Dustin Hoffman is Rain Man). Not unlike when I see The Green Mile (how was THAT movie not on this list?!?!) Actually, I just have to see that The Green Mile is on tv (doesn't matter what part), and I burst into tears.

95. In the Mood for Love (2001)
96. Far From Heaven (2002) A severely underrated movie. Dennis Haysbert is amazing.

So a box arrived at my house yesterday. Greta was not pleased.

Photobucket
Greta: Mama, what's this box?
(Ever since Juno left, she's been calling me Mama.)
Me: A new dolly. A tiny BJD, just like you!

Photobucket
Greta: NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT. I'm supposed to be the only tiny BJD in this house.
Me: Not anymore.
Greta: I won't let you open this!! I won't be replaced!!!!

Photobucket
Me: Yeah, I don't think so.
Greta: PUT ME DOWN!!!

Photobucket
Me: Sorry about that. That box really is HUGE!!!! My mom even commented it on its excessive size.

Cameron: Piggy.
Greta: *panicked* What?

Photobucket
Cameron: Piggy!
Greta: Get away from me, foul beast!!!!! Mama, help me!!
Me: Well, only because I love you, Greta.

Photobucket
Me: He's so PRECIOUS!!!!!! He fits in the palm of my hand.

Photobucket
Greta: *sigh* Thank god that demon is away from me. How long is he staying here?
Me: Indefinitely.
Greta: EXCUSE ME?!?! You can't be serious.
Me: I am. So you better get used to him.

Cameron: Piggy, piggy, piggy, piggy....
Greta: I can't believe this is my life.

Today was awesome.

Why today was awesome:
First, I had a MISSOURI PEACH, which I've only been waiting for since, you know, APRIL!! It was sweet, juicy, and good :D Peach pie, here I come!!!

Second (and more importantly)....
I FOUND TWIX JAVA AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, I even make an appearance, I am THAT happy!
This blessed event needed to be documented. I know I look like crap, but hey! I have my beloved Twix Java!!!

Let me explain:
Twix made these AMAZING limited edition Twix Java bars in February of this year. I only had them about 3 times before they sold out.

I was DEVASTATED! Words cannot describe how much I loved this candy bar. I searched high and low for MONTHS, hoping that my beloved Twix Java would be at Wal-Mart or a gas station. But no. I even went so far as to check eBay to see if I could snag a case. Yes, I love this candy bar that much.

So a miracle occurred today. I was in the Dollar Tree buying stuff for a baby shower when I wandered into the candy aisle and saw them!!!!! I was so excited!!!! I called my mother right away (because she knows how long I've been looking for them), and then I bought the whole box, 19 bars in all. I was with my friend Jessie and she kept giving me WTF looks because I was spazzing so much over candy bars. The cashier thought I was crazy, too, but I DON'T CARE! I HAVE MY FAVORITE CANDY BAR BACK!!!

YAY!!!! I have to make them last :D

Why today was awesome.

Cameron was sleepy
Cameron rests in a sea of Twix Java bars!

Why are there so MANY of them?!!?
Cameron wonders why there are so many of them.
BECAUSE THEY ARE DELICIOUS!!!

Alright, I know it's sad to get THIS excited over a candy bar, but you just don't know. Twix Java is the perfect combination of coffee and candy. It combines my favorite candy bar and my favorite beverage!!!! What's not to like?

First, All the Constellations:
Chapter 18: Hate/Love
Chapter 19: How Do You Feel About It?

Ugh. I only have a month left until school starts. And I am REALLY dreading it. Like, I know my classes will be fine, but I really am not holding out much hope for my social life. People ask me when I'm returning to school, and I want to say "As late as humanly possible." And UGH, I have to deal with recruitment again (the sorority girls at school are like drug pushers; they think EVERYBODY should go Greek). URGH!! And it sucks because I can't go home as much as I did last year because my ride home (Sarah) is getting a job in Fulton and is only going home once a month. I'm trying to keep a positive mind here, I really am, but this is really hard for me. And I have a bad feeling that this is NOT going to be a good semester for me.

But enough of that drearyness!! On to happier things....like body art! I currently only have one tattoo, but I'm really itching to get a second one (four pink and purple stars on my right shoulder. I know, very cliche and girly, but I don't care). I also want to get the Coexist symbol between my shoulder blades because religious tolerance is something I feel very strongly about.
I'd also like the words "Que sera, sera" (Whatever will be, will be) on my ankle--"que sera, sera" is my mantra whenever I feel overwhelmed.
And finally...I'd really like to get a tattoo of Batgirl. Preferably a chibi Batgirl, actually. Why Batgirl? Because Barbara Gordon is one of my fictional heroes (right up there with Heather Wells). She's the greatest librarian like, ever. Not only does she RUN the Gotham City Public Library, she FIGHTS CRIME. Hello? How awesome is that?! I wanted a tattoo that represented the library in some way, and when I remembered that Batgirl was a librarian, I knew I had found the tattoo for me :D I don't know quite where I want it, but I know for sure that is what I want :D

I'm currently scheming on how to raise funds for my next doll. I'm definitely going to get Jade and Sol--I REALLY love those two boys--but I'm on the lookout for another girl, too. I just don't know who yet. See, I want a girl who can be Mia without makeup on. Although I do like Celsiy, I'm not so sure she screams "Mia" to me. I've been perusing through the Pictionary threads, but nobody is really saying "Mia" to me, except for perhaps Chill. My other thought was to perhaps commission a custom, but I'm a real big fan of stock girls, so I dunno. Anybody have any suggestions?

And finally, for your entertainment....I found this little note on my neighbor's door. For the past week, they've been packing up all their stuff because they were being evicted. Well, they left town Thursday, but when I came home from Six Flags on Friday, I saw a bunch of notes on their front door (this being one of them). I guess anything my neighbors didn't need (including frozen food!) they donated to a local charity....who didn't really appreciate the donation (in their defense, it was all crap that should have been thrown away).

Photobucket

What makes it so funny isn't the fact that the charity hunted down my neighbors and took the time to leave the note....but they actually RETURNED my neighbors "donations" and left them on the driveway. Because putting them in the dumpster would have been too charitable?!?

Photobucket

I submitted this gem to passiveaggressivenotes.com because it needs to be shared.

Stress.

First, All the Constellations:
Chapter 20: Women
Chapter 21: Suggestions
Chapter 22: A Beautiful Friendship
Chapter 23: Deception

And then....stress.
In my 14 years of schooling, I have NEVER been this stressed about going back to school. I mean, I love school. Yes, I'm a weirdo, but I LOVE to learn. I love to read, I love to discuss, and yes, I'm the girl who loves to write essays. In a strange way, I look forward to going back to school every year.

But I have absolutely NO desire to go back. It's only confirming my belief that Westminster maybe isn't the place for me. I shouldn't DREAD the idea of going to school, especially since I CHOSE to go there. But I have to go. I mean, I can't just take a semester off (I would go CRAZY).

My dad is against the idea of me transferring--he even has suggested bribing me with a (used) car so I'd stay at Westminster. While I love the idea of a free car...if I'm not happy, a vehicle isn't going to make me happy.

And I'm down to my last $100, which sucks. I need a job, but I had the best job in the world at the library. I think about it, and my heart still hurts because I had to leave--and I quit a full year ago. My heart is at the library. I guess the only positive of that situation is that if I had any doubts about becoming a librarian, this has dissolved them.

The stress is coming from other stuff, too. Like, packing for school. I hate packing. So much. And the more important issues of:
As of 5 o'clock today, my father will be unemployed.
I might have to move away from the house I grew up in (and the house that my parents loved so much they paid off a 30-year mortgage in 18 years).
As of August 30, I will have no insurance (well, I'll have catastrophic, but I won't be able to visit the doctor unless I'm dying).
I had to end a 13-year friendship and I STILL miss her.
I have to go back to a place where I have very few friends because I don't want to be friends with people whose idea of a good time involves getting falling-down drunk.
My brother is one breakdown away from giving up his lifelong dream.
I have to continued to use the crappiest cell phone known to man because we can't get a new contract until we know where my dad will be working (this seems superficial, I know, but when it rains, it pours).

Sorry for the angst. It's nighttime, and I'm afraid of the dark.

Breathe.

Okay. On to happy things!
Baby Boy!
My lettle bebe!

Jewel thief!
I made that whole outfit. It's really ghetto, as it was handsewn, and I fail at handsewing.

Vroom, vroom!
His aunt Delaney gave him this car (read: I found it in a cereal box). Vroom, vroom!

More on my flickr.

And finally, my favorite of all things: Dolly Diversity.
Challenge #5 - Dollie Diversity
This was my entry for the Strike a Pose Challenge on House of Pullip. I'm so pleased with it! On a side note, almost all of these dollies will be coming to school with me to reside on my desk--which will be made of awesome toy-goodness!!

Ah. I think that's it for now. Thanks for listening!

Dolly Decisions

So. It's dolly decision time.

As you know my dolly wantlist is quite large. And I want a new dolly, and I'm pretty sure that my Angelica Eve is going to get the boot. She's nice and all, but I really think I only want one Blythe, my beloved Last Kiss Alyssa. I'm still not sure I'm going to sell my Angelica Eve, but I'm pretty sure that I like the idea of money more than I like the idea of an Angelica Eve.

So my options are these:
1) A tinybear Coco. I love that fat fairy! There's a member on TIB who is looking to trade her Coco for a Blythe and I'm thinking about taking her up on it.
2) Sell AE, then pre-order Jade and buy a marrone obitsu for my Haute.
3) Sell AE, buy a nude Chill and an obitsu for her.
4) Just keep my AE (unlikely, but still an option).

Suggestions, anyone?

Marryth is Awesome

$

0
So yes. Amanda (marryth) is awesome.

I was feeling a little down today, what with me moving back to school on Wednesday. So my mom gets the mail this afternoon and tells me that I gots a package!

Turns out Amanda sent me some goodies!!! See the picture for details. She knew I'd been down in the dumps lately, so she sent me some clothes and a nice note to cheer me up :) It really made my day and made me stop moping and do something productive (shoot my TQ entry and organize my jewelry, which doesn’t sound like much of an accomplishment, but I own over 150 pairs of earrings alone).

So thanks, Marryth! You totally rock!

In addition to my totally awesome mail surprise, I had a really good day garage sale-ing this morning.
I found a Badtz-Maru piggy bank for 5 cents (but it had 20 cents in it, so I came out ahead). I also found some off-brand Uggs (worn once), which I’ve wanted for about 3 years. Judge me all you want; they’re comfortable and warm!! I got some Bratz that I poached clothes off of for Greta. And the greatest find of all:

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST ON DVD!!!!!!!! For $2!!!!

Because Disney is stupid (aka borderline racketeering) with its whole “vault” thing, this DVD is next to impossible to find for a decent price. The cheapest USED copy I could online find was $16, and even then, the disc was scratched. Plus, you NEVER can find Disney movies on DVDs at garage sales. They’re just too popular, you know? So when I found this, I literally squealed out loud. Besides Toy Story, it’s the ONLY Disney movie from my childhood that I didn’t own on DVD. So YAY!!!! My VHS copy is getting QUITE old.

I love Beauty and the Beast. That’s the second Disney Golden Era!!! When you went to see a Disney movie because it was DISNEY, not because it was Pixar. Don’t get me wrong, I love Pixar, but I was raised on the traditionally animated Disney movies. I mean, I can quote The Lion King word for word.

With the exception of Toy Story (I know that’s Pixar, but that came out when I was 6, so it counts), I now own my favorite Disney movies from my childhood :D

And finally,

Whenever I gets some monies, I always think I know what I’m going to buy. But then something else comes to my attention, and I’m torn on what to buy. I was going to get a marrone obitsu and pre-order Jade, but then I realized that I had enough money for a Puki….those little BJDs are just too cute!!!

What I need to do is just buy that damn obitsu, because I’ll regret it if I don’t—Eva’s body is so freaking ANNOYING! Sigh.

But a sweet little Puki....

Back at School....

It's not as bad as I thought.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes it still totally blows, but I found more people who share in my sentiments about this place. I'm still about 50/50 on the transfer situation, but I think I found a way that will enable me to spend only four more semesters here on campus. Which, yes, is a lot, but it's better than six.

I have to drop my minor (which is fine; I was thinking about doing that anyways), which will allow me to graduate a semester early. My parents wholly support that goal, because hey, that's less money they have to pay. I am also planning to spend a semester abroad--my school offers scholarships that cover full tuition for a semester abroad. My advisor, who practically worships the ground I walk on, is on that scholarship board, and he basically told me that if I applied, I would get a scholarship. So that's one less semester here.

Which leaves me four semesters--64 weeks/448 days (total, including weekends)--which sounds like a lot. But if I could manage to go home two weekends a month, I think, I think I would be able to survive this shit.

If I don't kill the Betas first (seriously, I thought we as humans had evolved past that level, but apparently not).

But on to other things. Like TQ!

I have been SO busy with school, but somehow I've managed to get my pictures done in time.

Challenge #1: Color Theory
TQ Challenge #1: Color Theory
I know this whole idea was cliched, but I tried to make the lighting interesting--which happened as a result of one of my lamps breaking and the other one falling over. I saw how the picture was lit with one lamp like this and thought, "Wow, this is cool!" So I went with it :D

Challenge #2: In Dreams
TQ Challenge #2: In Dreams
Big thanks to Turtle (zerohour269's boyfriend) on this one. He gave me the idea (though Rachel, of course), and I just went with it.
Behind Gabriel is a photo of MLK at his "I Have a Dream" speech. I printed this photo out from the internet (which is VERY difficult when your printer refuses to cooperate!!) and posed Gabriel in front of it. I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out.

And then there's this pic:
TQ Challenge #2 (Outtake)
Which was my original idea for this challenge. I wasn't terribly satisfied with it (I was only kind of "eh" about it) for the contest, but the picture itself still amuses me. I mean, Gabriel knows WAY better than to associate with Greta.
This picture really isn't so much of a dream as a nightmare, really.

In other school news, I bought books. I had to buy 11 in total (I have a class that requires 6 books alone, but thank God, I already owned one of them). I bought some at the bookstore, some online, and it came to a grand total of....$213.54!!!

That is SO CHEAP!!! I'm so happy right now. Especially since I know a girl who spent over $600 on her textbooks.

That's the great thing about being an English literature major. You may need to buy 6 or 7 books for one class, but they're all super-cheap (online, that is) and widely available. Science and Math majors are always screwed. Their books get new editions every 1-2 years (so their resale value is crap), plus those textbooks are ALWAYS over $100 apiece. My brother (who is a Computer Science major), would be DESTITUTE if not for his "textbook scholarship" that pays for 75% of his textbooks. He gets that for working at the bookstore at UMKC.

College bookstores are a HUGE ripoff. I needed The Bell Jar for my Women and Madness in Literature class. A USED copy at the bookstore is $10.45. You can buy a BRAND NEW copy on Amazon for $11.53!!! A USED copy should not cost only a DOLLAR less than a new one!!! That's ridiculous!!! Yeah, I bought my copy for a grand total of $4 shipped.

I pay $22,000 a YEAR to go to my college. My school has an $100 MILLION dollar endowment (that's not even counting all the tertiary donations they get throughout the year). They can't afford to, you know, LOWER THE BOOKSTORE PRICES JUST A LITTLE BIT?!?! Sheesh.

I guess that's what half.com is for.

I Can Haz Contest!

So I get this link from my parents that says: YOU MUST ENTER THIS CONTEST!!! Which is weird, because my parents don't usually send me things like that. So they send me here:
http://hereinsilence.com/?p=323
Photobucket

It's a contest to win a Petite Blythe! The terms of which are..."write a small entry about the contest and please make sure to explain what a petite blythe is so that others will know!"

Well, I know I'm preaching to choir here (this is a doll journal after all!!!), so I'll just re-post what the blogger wrote: "Petite blythes are a smaller, collectible version of the 12″ blythe fashion dolls. They stand at about 4.5 inches, have a bendable body and movable eyelids. However unlike the 12″ blythes you cannot change their eye colors."

If you don't all know what Blythes are by now, I might just have to cry a little bit.

Anyways, here's the Blythe she's giving away:
